Default Raspberries/Loganberries - 11-07-2008, 10:12 AM

I have grown Raspberries and Loganberries for the first time this year. Now that the fruiting season is over and there are a lot of canes on the bushes do I need to cut them back, thin them out or can I leave them for next year? Advice gratefully received.

In the past I've tended to be quite brutal with Raspberries, cut them right down to soil after fruiting (provided they are not new canes which haven't produced yet) and in spring cut down to about 3 foot, thinning out so that there is about 6 inches between each otherwise you will find your garden is taken over!
